Himachal Pradesh: Patient goes to hospital for report, faces FIR

DHARAMSHALA: A man under home quarantine in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district who went to get his test report from Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital (RPMCH) in Tanda and came out Covid-19 positive, now faces a FIR for flouting norms.
The man had returned alone from Jalandhar in a taxi on May 10. Kangra deputy commissioner Rakesh Kumar Prajapati said they were going to file a police complaint against him as he was instructed to stay home but he put the lives of others at risk.
Hospital medical superintendent Dr Surinder Bhardwaj said he was informed by hospital staff that a man was sitting near an OPD to seek his report."It was breach of safety norms. We immediately sealed the area. All other patients were told to stay where they were. The area was then sanitised for two hours," he said.
So far, 10 contacts of the man have been traced.
Kangra has maximum people arriving from outside the state. Nearly 38,000 are in home quarantine and random sampling is underway. Two cases in Kangra, of a tea vendor and a head constable, who have no travel history have left the authorities flummoxed.
